The landscaping industry is changing... and it needs to. For years, a “nice lawn” often meant pumping the soil full of synthetic additives to make the grass greener and the weeds disappear. At Hydro Weed Plus, we’re taking a different path. Our goal is simple: beautiful, functional spaces that are safer for people, pets, pollinators, and the environment.

What “sustainable landscaping” means to us

Sustainability isn’t a buzzword here; it’s the basis for every decision we make. From the tools we run to the products we choose and how we apply them; sustainability is the goal. We prioritize methods that protect waterways, build healthier soil, and reduce waste without sacrificing results.

Vegetation control without chemical herbicides

We use Satusteam™, a system that applies superheated water directly to unwanted vegetation without converting to steam. It’s designed for controlling weeds in hard surfaces, garden beds, and other non-turf areas. Satusteam™ works from the leaf down to the crown, rapidly dehydrating plant tissue. This forces the weed to draw on its stored root energy through carbohydrate remobilization, eventually depleting its reserves and preventing regrowth. The process leaves no residues, uses no synthetic herbicides, and poses minimal risk to surrounding desirable plants when applied correctly.

Where it shines

  • Driveways and walkways (cracks and edges)

  • Garden beds and fence lines

  • Commercial hardscapes and high-traffic areas

  • Play areas and pet-friendly zones

Soil health first

Healthy soil is the foundation of every thriving landscape. We focus on:

  • Structure & biology: through soil-specific amendments guided by detailed soil testing. Each treatment plan is designed to improve soil structure, encourage beneficial microbial activity, and create lasting balance using natural, sustainable inputs.

  • HydroSoilRevive: our soil-health program featuring Canadian-sourced, natural ingredients that enhance nutrient availability and root development.

  • Water resilience: healthier soils hold moisture longer and handle dry spells better, reducing stress on plants (and on you).

Honest expectations: natural results take time

Working with natural systems means change builds gradually. As the soil rebuilds and biology returns, you start to see stronger growth, better moisture retention, and fewer problem areas. It’s a process, but one that creates lasting balance.

“Sustainable landscaping takes patience - the results aren’t instant, but they’re lasting.”

Careful product selection (not experimentation)

I'm continually learning more about the products and methods we use, what they’re made of, how they work, and how they influence soil and plant health. Every choice is based on credible research and a commitment to natural performance. As I gain experience, I keep refining the lineup to ensure each treatment reflects both environmental responsibility and long-term effectiveness.

Lower-impact equipment & sourcing

  • Preference for non-fossil-fuel equipment where feasible

  • Canadian-sourced inputs when available to reduce transport impact

  • Practical steps to cut plastic waste and over-application

Who this approach is for

  • Homeowners and businesses who want clean, safe, and effective landscapes

  • Families with kids and pets

  • Clients who value long-term health over short-term quick fixes
