Mike Slaney is the founder of Hydro Weed Plus and a passionate advocate for healthier landscapes, for people and the planet.
Mikes journey into sustainable landscaping is deeply rooted in his personal values and lifestyle. After being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in his early twenties, Mike began to look more closely at his environment its connection to this health through a new lens. He became increasingly aware of how everyday exposures, especially to chemicals and toxins, can impact long-term health. That awareness quickly evolved into action.
As he learned more about soil health, natural systems, and the link between environmental wellness and human wellbeing, Mike realized how disconnected conventional landscaping had become from the needs of both. That disconnect lit a fire in him to find a better way.
Hydro Weed Plus was born from that commitment. With a strong foundation in problem-solving and hands-on work (his background includes electronics and systems work with NAV Canada), Mike brings both precision and purpose to every job. His clients trust him not just because he gets results, but because he genuinely cares about the long-term impact of his work on the land, the water, and the families who live there.
